MAY DAY PARADE (c.1936) film no: 2898

Download description pdf

A short amateur film, this film shows children arriving for the May Day Parade in the village of Clayton, near Bradford.

The film begins with a small girl pushing a pram out through her front door and out onto the street.  There she joins lots of other small children pushing small decorated prams or riding bicycles along the street near the church.  Some of the bicycles have ribbons on the handle bars.  Other children arrive, also in fancy dress.  They all make their way through the church gates.
