FOUNTAINS ABBEY AND MALHAM (1960s) film no: 2464
This is a film of a group of people in the countryside and visiting Fountains Abbey.
The film begins showing flower beds and then a woman, in a white coat, walking past the gates of a large country house. The woman walks around the garden, looking at the flowers. A passenger train passes over a bridge, and another woman (possibly the same), in a red coat, walks near a lake. The film switches to a road with cars driving along.
B&W (Very faint) People can be seen at a fair, and there is a beach with a row of boats. There is another street with traffic, a mini car, and pedestrians, and then a clock tower with an arch underneath it.
Intertitle – Fountains Abbey
The Abbey is shown, with visitors walking around. There is a street sign for Malham, and there is a view down the valley. Two women and a young couple walk along the valley, passing a waterfall, to Malham Cove. Then a car pulls up in a village. Some people are paddling in a river, whilst others walk across a bridge going over the river. A boy stands on some stepping stones with a fishing net. Two women and a man go over a small foot bridge over the stream and the film comes to an end.
