BERYL STEAMING FAIR WIND (1959) film no: 1446

Download description pdf

This is a film of the fishing trawler Kingston Beryl H128 in operation in the North Sea, part of the Hull Maritime Museum Collection. It shows the trawler fishing out in the North Sea, along with many other fishing trawlers, and coming in and out of Hull.

The film begins with fishing trawlers out in the North Sea, and fishermen hauling in their catch. The fishermen make repairs to their nets. The fishing boat passes various larger ships, including a lighthouse ship, as it makes its way along the North Sea coast. It goes through some very choppy waters, with waves lashing the side of the boat. As the sea calms there is a beautifully coloured sunset. It comes into the Humber, passing many other fishing vessels, including the 'Lord Mountevans' of Hull.
