Favourite Film

“One of the best parts of my job is getting to look at nearly every film that comes into the Archive, but that makes it difficult to pick just one as a favourite. The following film, National Hairdressing Competition, Alexandra Hall (1963), is part of a Halifax Cine Club Compilation. Most of the Club’s films were screened at Alexandra Hall for members as well as the greater public and focused on celebrating the people of Halifax. When not being used for Cine Club business, the Hall was host to other events including the hairdressing competitions. One of the more quirky films from this collection, it features models sporting unusual and unique hair styles and colours.”
